About the Role & Program
KABC-TV (ABC7) is an ABC owned television station (OTV), located in Glendale, near downtown Los Angeles. Our station is in the second largest market in the country. Weekly, ABC7 produces over sixty-three hours of local news, public affairs, magazine programs and public service campaigns!
The internship program is designed to provide you with an on-site educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to observe and participate in the daily work and operations of a major market television station.
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through early January 2026.
What You Will Do
Ever dreamed of covering entertainment news or even being “On The Red Carpet” at a Hollywood premiere? We are looking for an intern to join our team to learn what happens behind the scenes at the production of ABC7 special event coverage, with the primary focus being part of “On The Red Carpet,” the entertainment brand of the ABC Owned Television Stations. This position is a great opportunity for those who have a desire to gain experience working in the many different stages of production and content development.
As the KABC-TV (ABC7) Content Development Intern, you may:
Work with the show producers in researching stories, setting up interviews, and assisting on studio and field camera shoots
Assist in the post-production process, including logging/transcribing interviews, and editing content
Be part of the “On The Red Carpet” social media strategy, including content creation, and engagement and growth of our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, formerly known as Twitter, and other social platforms
Write articles, create video content, and publish to the ABC7 website
Required Qualifications & Skills
Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere
Major or previous coursework in Film & Television, Communications or related major
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in and knowledge of using social media platforms to post and create content
Completed coursework in producing, writing, or editing
Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
Education
Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Be at least 18 years of age
Possess unrestricted work authorization
Additional Information
Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2025 through early January 2026
Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights and/or weekends)
Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area
Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $17.75 per hour.
