We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!
This role sits in the Disney Cruise Line organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with key businesses and stakeholders from across the company.
The Lead Software Engineer will report to the Sr. Mgr, Technology
About The Role & Team:
- This Seaware Engineering & Applications Solutions (SEAS) team consists of multiple studios supporting a portfolio anchored by Versonix's Seaware Reservation System and includes mission critical Disney custom API's, Services and applications. The successful candidate will lead a fast-moving team tasked with delivering cross-platform integrated services and applications for Disney Cruise Line and Disney Adventures & Expeditions.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the analysis, design, program, debugging, and modifications of software improvements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based, or Internet-related computer programs
- Lead projects that may be used in commercial and end-user applications or focus on software and tools supporting infrastructure and technology platforms
- Work typically involves large or highly sophisticated software programs and systems
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of current programming language and technologies, with strong skills in writing code and completing programming tasks
- May perform or lead testing and debugging of applications, identifying innovative solutions
- Conceive, design, develop, test, and implement software components, fixes, improvements, and/or new systems and applications
- Interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
- Help engage around the estimation and planning of highly sophisticated scalable projects and their budget allocations
- You will be expected to stay up to date with emerging technologies so you can make informed recommendations
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of related work experience
- Comfortable working in an agile environment
- A visionary who motivates teams to excel and fosters creativity, consistently driving excellence in all endeavors
- An advocate for a diverse and inclusive culture that encourages innovation and ensures every team member feels a sense of belonging
- Familiar with AWS technologies including EC2, ECS, AppStream and Redis, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, microservices and monitoring tools including Open Telemetry and AppDynamics, with a desire to further develop technical expertise in data engineering tools, methodologies, and emerging technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with setting up new Java projects, including pipelines, tooling, etc., from scratch
- 3-5 years of Oracle Database experience
- Software Performance Optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)
- Experience with or exposure to Disney’s Centralized Accounting Platform (CAP) and/or Adaptive Payment Platform (APP) integration
Required Education:
Bachelor's or foreign equivalent Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
