About the Role & Team
Disney’s Employee Care & Support (ECS) Team is a function of the Employee Relations Center of Excellence that is responsible for ensuring the Company takes a compassionate, holistic, and proactive approach to providing care to our employees and their families during times of crisis and through distressing life moments. In conjunction with strategic partners and through a lens of compassion and equity, we aim to ensure our employees, cast members, crew members, and their families, receive the best possible care, support, and resources to aid in the response to, recovery from, and individual long-term resilience following crisis events and distressing life moments. The Senior Manager, Employee Care & Support will work with HR/ER and other key stakeholders to provide strategic implementation of programs and policies, identify and centralize resources, and facilitate coordinated responses to individual and large-scale crisis events. The Senior Manager, Employee Care & Support must be able to perform work with little supervision, exhibit superb written and verbal communication skills, handle a wide range of complex and sensitive employment situations, and demonstrate strong emotional intelligence to skillfully interact with partners and leaders at all levels of the organization.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic direction for an evolving and scalable enterprise model of employee care and support through the development of standards, guiding principles, policies and procedures, training and awareness programs, and the identification and utilization of tools and resources.
- Engage with the broader HR Community, as well as specialty partners, to drive strategy and strengthen the Company’s resilience towards individual and large-scale crisis events and trauma.
- Support the development of an enterprise-wide HR crisis management response framework that, in conjunction with key partners, provides support to employees and their families during crisis events and disasters
- Oversee design and implementation of a training program that educates and empowers HR/ER practitioners, people managers, and employees on how to lead compassionately and support employees and themselves in times of crisis and trauma.
- Partner with relevant segments to gather and analyze data, recognize gaps, and identify solutions to ensure a compassionate and consistent approach to how the Company provides support to our employees during a crisis.
- Support our segment ER and HR partners real time in response to sensitive and/or complex traumatic employee events.
- Oversee Production Cast & Crew Emergency Helpline including strategic oversight of available resources and support offerings provided by the Employee Care & Support team to Disney Entertainment productions
- Partner with Global Security on Disney’s Family Assistance (Global Care Team) Program including the training program (including curriculum development & train-the-trainer), and responder deployment and support standards.
- Represent HR as part of the Enterprise Crisis Team (EOC Team 2) and coordinate response efforts through activation of HR Crisis Coordination framework
- Draft well-written policies, plans and executive summaries with little supervision.
- Manage development and implementation of Employee Care & Support case management system along with criteria for metrics and reporting.
- Build strong relationships with key ER partners, including Human Resources, Legal, Global Security, Communications, Diversity & Inclusion, and others.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices to consistently incorporate innovative and forward-thinking insights into our approach
- Manage team of Employee Care & Support Associate Managers.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 7 years combined hands on experience within the fields of Crisis Management Compassionate Care, and/or Mental Health/Wellbeing programs in support of HR functions across global organizations
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to work in and manage ambiguity – dealing with issues that do not always have an existing process or system in place
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional projects from idea to implementation and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Experience managing various types of crises both small and large
- High emotional intelligence, strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to brief, document, and explain technical details to partners as well as business executives
- Strong understanding of trauma support, mental health, and well-being practices
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters.
- Ability to work collaboratively, lead and influence at all levels within the organization, and make decisions while keeping all partners and leaders informed.
- Independent work style, balancing the need for collaboration with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and leverage strong time management and prioritization skills to manage multiple projects and pivot quickly between activities based on changing priorities.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays on an on-call basis to support employee emergencies and crisis events.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree OR 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
- Master’s Degree or EdD/ PhD in related field preferred
- Mental Health/Suicide Prevention training and/or trainer certification preferred

The hiring range for this position in Burbank, CA is $ 165,700.00 to $202,500.00 per year, New York, NY is $173,600,00 to $212,000.00, and in Seattle, WA is $173,600.00 to $212,000.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
