Summary
The Communications Operations Manager is a crucial role within the Communications department at The Walt Disney Studios, responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of internal events, vendor management, and project coordination. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and project management skills. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, proactively identify and resolve issues, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Event Management:
Plan, coordinate, and execute internal events for employees, including town halls, large scale internal events, conferences, leadership events, and other types of events.
Manage event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audio-visual equipment, purchasing, and attendee registration.
Track event expenses.
Post-event evaluation and reporting on event success.
Vendor Management:
Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with vendors related to events, including caterers, A/V companies, activity companies, and others.
Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance aligns with expectations.
Assess vendor documentation, including insurance requirements and other relevant certifications.
Manage vendor invoices.
Project Coordination:
Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
Track project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Communicate project updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in event management, project coordination, or a related field. Experience in a Communications department is a plus.
Skills:
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with Kanban-like project management methodologies and tools.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience with graphic design, video editing, social media marketing, and A/V production; including live streaming, video capture, editing, and video streaming tools.
The hiring range for this position in California is $112,700.00 to $154,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
