In this dynamic role, the Environmental Service Manager oversees the daily operations for the nonhazardous and regulated waste programs, including scheduling, reporting and technical guidance to support the operation and expansion of the Resort, while leading a team of front-line cast members. You will have an advanced understanding of the federal, state, and local solid waste regulatory frameworks and expertise working with internal partners and regulating agencies.
What You Will Do:
Field Team
- Manage a front-line field team that operate on a 7 days/week schedule to ensure routine pick-ups of regulated waste from holding lockers located around the Resort, consolidation of waste streams, and proper shipment to approved and certified "Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facilities"
- Oversee day to day operations of the Environmental Activity Center, the Environmental Recycling Center, satellite accumulation areas, and offsite locations
- Train field team Cast Members to support the field-related needs of the Environmental Affairs department, which typically includes sample collection, equipment status checks, and data collection from several devices across the Resort
- Oversee backhoe and forklift operations
Program Support
- Support environmental programs including understanding storm water, hazardous waste, air, and solid waste operations and best management practices at the Resort
- Participate in construction meetings as a subject matter expert on environmental programs and waste operations
- Train front-line Cast Members on the basics of hazardous waste handling specific to the Resort
- Submit compliance reports to third parties
Regulated Waste
- Execute day-to-day work for hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling programs
- Direct environmental sampling and assist in making waste determinations
- Oversee small asbestos and/or heavy metals abatement or cleanup jobs based on need and level of training received
- Oversee spill response in accordance with the Resort’s Hazardous Materials Release Response Plan
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- 5+ years of work experience managing hazardous and other regulated waste compliance programs in California
- Demonstrated ability to lead a field team
- Experience with environmental sampling and analysis procedures
- Experience with the chemistry of hazardous materials
- Experience working with regional, state, and federal agencies
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with partners of all levels
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years in hazardous waste, solid waste, and recycling compliance programs
- 3+ years of experience leading a team in a related role
- Proven experience in hazardous material spill response and hazardous waste Lab Pack
- HAZWOPER certified
- Organizational skills to manage multiple deliveries and shipments
- Understanding of Cal Recycle diversion programs
- Understanding of Cal Green mandatory measures for non-residential solid waste management
- Understanding of the California Medical Waste Management Act
- Understanding of DOT/PHMSA requirements for the transportation of hazardous materials
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, CHMM or CHMP
- Experience in a union work environment
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, or related field
The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $103,500 to $138,800 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
